I review malpractice claims for a major insurer, and from those reviews determine trends and develop teaching strategies, programs and publications for both doctors and hospitals. These initiatives are used to educate and improve patient safety in the outpatient and inpatient settings. I am also a PhD candidate in nursing from the University of Akron.
Experience:
American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses: Current Director for Research, past Chair of EBP Committee, past committee member of publications, governmental affairs, Safe staffing work team. Ohio Nurses Association: Member of Health Policy Council. I am a regular column author on patient safety in The Journal of Perianesthesia Nursing (JoPAN), and contribute three articles per year to JoPAN. I have presented nationally on research, evidence-based practice and safety through out the years. Here are some recent presentations: "Legally Speaking: Just the Facts", November 2006.
